No Piledrivers given
Tonight was a night that I've been looking forward to for a loooooooong time. If you are a regular reader of Tug's Life then you will remember me posting that my cousin Danny (the one that nicknamed me Tug) had stumbled upon my little blog. We have been corresponding through email ever since. On more than one occasion we have brought up the fact that we needed to get together again. Except for a brief pass-by at my sister's funeral 6-years ago, Danny and I haven't seen each other in well over 25-years. Well, we finally followed through with our intentions and met for dinner tonight at Texas Roadhouse!
One thing that we both noticed was how much we both look like our dad's. If I was about 60-lbs lighter I could pass for my dad's twin. Danny looks a lot like his dad did too. It was so great reminiscing of old times and cutting up. My wife and kids also had a blast meeting Danny and his wife. They have heard my old stories about him all of their lives but this was the first time they had ever met him. I think we probably irritated the people at the table behind us with all of our laughing and loud talking. I noticed a lady turn around and look at us a couple of times. I don't care if we irritated everyone in the whole place. I felt like a 10-year old kid again getting to hang out with my hero cousin. The only difference is that he didn't Piledrive me or put me in a small package! Of course you can tell by looking at the picture that I out-weigh Danny by quite a bit nowadays and it would probably be difficult for him to do very many wrestling holds on me.
We discussed the blog a little bit and some of the posts that I've written. Danny made sure to tell my family not to believe all of the bad things I've said about him (even though he knows they are all true!) ;) My son's favorite story is the one where Danny talked me into climbing into a dog cage naked and then he locked me inside. We also mentioned that it is a wonder that I'm not permanently brain damaged from the baseball incident or the croquet ball incident. He also took credit for me growing up to be strong and tough. You know that saying "what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger"? Well, in my case it must be true!
Our evening ended way too soon and we parted ways. I am looking forward to the next time we can get together. Hopefully it won't be 25-years again!
