Dadism's
One thing that I could always count on when growing up, was colorful comments from my dad. Today I was recollecting back on some of those sayings and thought I would write them down.
You ain’t got sense enough to get out of the rain. (Usually heard after I had done something stupid.)
You gotta learn everything the hard way. (Often heard after failing at something.)
What in the samhill is going on around here? (Heard on a daily basis, covered anything that I was doing that caused a distrubance.)
How bout a swift kick in the rear-end? (Dad's way of joking around when asking what we wanted.)
How would you like the warm grease smacked out of ya? (Verbal assault warning me to stop whatever I was doing and straighten up before dad got his belt out!)
I’m gonna whoop your socks off! (Another verbal assault usually leading up to actually getting my socks whooped off.)
If you don’t eat that I’m gonna rub your nose in it! (Threats at meal times whenever I didn't want to eat what was on my plate.)
Hmm, after looking over that short list of Dadism's, I think I now know where my bouts of depression and low self-esteem come from…
