Easter memories

Easter baskets, chocolate bunnies, jelly beans, colored eggs, new clothes, Easter bonnets, Church, singing, ham, baked beans, buttered rolls, egg hunt, playing with friends and cousins, that's what Knoxville Easters were like for me growing up.

All of those things are still important, but the focus is different. Now I'm the one buying the new clothes for the family, fixing up Easter baskets, putting food on the table, taking them to Church, leading the singing, hiding the eggs, arranging for friends and cousins to come over. Why do I do these things? I want my kids to have the same kind of memories that I have. I believe it's all of those small things in life that makes a person who they are. The love of family, the love of God, good friends, Church, sitting around the dinner table, playing with the dog, singing in harmony, these are the important things in life. It's a shame that adults have to stay so bogged down with responsibilities, jobs, house repairs, vehicle maintenance, and the list goes on and on, that we barely have time to stop and smell the chocolate bunnies.

Ah but when you see the smile on the faces of your children as they are opening up that Easter basket, or putting the final touches on the most beautiful Easter egg ever created, it makes it all worth while.

Happy Easter Knoxville!
