The Gibbs High Bully

Naw, I wasn't really a typical bully. I was just mischievous. They say that kids act out when they want attention, but honestly, the reason I did things was because they were fun!

If you click on the picture of the document attached to this post, you will see just one of many in-school suspension notices that was sent home to my parents. I was sentenced to the Gibbs High School Suspension program every year that I attended, sometimes more than once a year. My list of infractions includes; spitting a lugie on the front of a snack machine, throwing a rock at Mr. McMillan's window to try and get my girlfriend's attention, poking my head into Mr. Meredith's Science class and yelling out "Zot!" and then running, sneaking out to the parking lot to put my parking pass on my car, being tardy for class, holding my thumb over the water fountain and spraying people in the hallway, and of course, the attached infraction, taking cologne out of someone's locker and spraying it on people. That was a really cool one. Let me tell you about it...

My buddies and I were on our lunch break. We were all leaning up against the lockers that lined the hallway just down from the cafeteria. One of my friends, can't remember which one, had a bottle of cologne in his locker. I had the bright idea of getting it out and spraying it up in the air. So I did that. Well, that wasn't enough for me, so I decided it would be better to spray it on someone as they walked down the hall. I was so right! The first person I sprayed was yelling and running like mad to get away. This, of course, started a minor stampede in the hallway. So while this mass of kids was running in pandilerium, I was just laughing hysterically and spraying cologne all over them. It was one huge smelly mess! The next thing I knew, 4-foot tall, Mrs. Jennings was standing right in front of me and she reached up and gripped the wrist that was holding the cologne bottle and practically dragged me to the office. I must say that my punishment was well worth the fun that I had.

The worst part about receiving in-school suspension was the punishment from my parents when they received the notice. Other than that, I actually enjoyed in-school suspension. I was usually the smartest kid in there and all I ever had to do was sit around and read Archie comics or Hot Rod Magazine. Besides being confined to one place for 8 hours a day, it was a blast! Hmm, perhaps that is why I never learned my lesson. Somebody should probably look into it and see if they still do that nowadays. My 15-year old daughter attends Gibbs High, maybe she would like to test the waters....NOT!!!
