Bench Blogging Part 2

It’s hard to believe that a whole week has already passed by since my last post on this blog. The days at work seem to take forever but the week in itself has really flown. I woke up early this morning, around 6:30, so I got up and hit the start button on my coffee maker. I was glad that I had prepared things last night before going to bed. I’ve already drunk 3 cups of Maxwell House. My wife accidentally bought sugar free Coffee Mate yesterday at the store, so I was leery of how it was going to taste. I can’t really tell any difference. I guess I can now tell the doctor that I am putting forth a little effort to cut back some, and I won’t be lying.

So, anyways, I’m sitting back outside on my bench this morning. It’s a little different than it was last Saturday. Everything is shrouded in a heavy fog. It’s so thick that I can’t even see House Mountain. The birds aren’t as active today either. I only hear a few small ones doing a little bit of tweeting. The crickets are pretty loud and I can hear a few frogs croaking from the small pond that is across the street. Those frogs make me think of my frog gigging past.

It’s a tad bit cooler today than it was last week. I wonder if we are going to see any bad weather as a result from Hurricane Ike. I saw on the news last night that the folks down in Texas were really getting pounded and they were under mandatory evacuation. I can’t imagine living in a place where I had to fear something like that all of the time. I think the Ocean and the Beach are great places to visit, but I don’t think I would want to live there. I couldn’t stand being away from the mountains anyway.

My son attended his first Gibbs football game last night. He went with one of his buddies from school and then spent the night over at his house. I saw on the news that Halls hammered Gibbs, 42-7. That’s nothing new, Halls always kills us. I’m sure that he had fun at the game though.

Well, the sun finally broke through the clouds and I snapped off a few pics. My nice quiet morning just got interrupted by an old Dodge Omni that sounded like someone was trapped inside of it’s engine and trying to beat their way out with a hammer. My gosh, I can’t believe there is still one of those things on the road.

My day is going to be crammed full of stuff to do and I’m dreading it. My wife’s niece is getting married this evening and my son needs a new pair of dress shoes. So I’ll be taking him out to find some of those and then attending the wedding tonight. A member of our church also passed away this week and her funeral services are tonight. She was 99-years old. Hopefully the wedding will end in time for me to attend the funeral.

So, until next time, find yourself a bench and sit in it. You’d be amazed at the joy one of these things can bring into your life.
