Tug taking Santa for a test drive

The cute little feller sitting on Santa's lap in the picture is none other than yours truly. This was taken back in 1970. I was only 4-years old. My folks used to take my sisters and me to the Broadway Shopping center in Knoxville so we could see Santa. There was always a portable building set up in the parking lot of the shopping center, where he would be. We didn't always get to have our pictures made because it cost money and, well, we really didn't have money to just throw away on Santa pictures. But, I guess on this fine day my dad must have had a little something extra. It seems like such a small things these days to shell out a few bucks for something like that, but when I was growing up, it made a difference as to whether or not we would be able to buy gas to get back home or buy a bag of beans to have something to eat. I never even thought about that stuff back when I was a kid. Looking at these old pictures makes me grateful for the sacrifice that my parents made for me. Hopefully one of these days my kids will appreciate me in the same way.

More Christmas posts to come!
